Hot Apple and Pomegranate Cider

This cider is great for a party and can be made a day ahead!  Loved by kids and adults, alike, it is sure to be a popular addition to your next autumnal gathering.

Hot Apple and Pomegranate Cider

Ingredients

  • 6 Cloves, whole
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks (3-inches or so)
  • 1 Lemon Rind strip (3-inches)
  • 1 Orange Rind strip (3-inches)
  • 8 Cups Apple Cider, unfiltered
  • 1 Cup Pomegranate Juice (can use cranberry, in a pinch)
  • 3/4 Cup Orange Juice, freshly squeezed (2 large oranges)
  • 1/4 Cup Honey
  • 1/4 Cup Lemon Juice, freshly squeezed (12 lemons)

Instructions

  1. Put cloves, cinnamon sticks and rinds in cheesecloth and tie with twine (or use a large tea strainer).
  2. Combine remaining ingredients in a large dutch oven and add cloves bag, brining to a simmer.
  3. Cook for 30 minutes, then remove cloves bag.
  4. Serve immediately or allow to cool and refigerate, reheating over the stove or in a crock pot.
